What medical insurance plans do you accept?

Dallas Sleep accepts most private health insurance plans, and we also accept Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans. Please click on the link below to see a complete list of medical insurance plans accepted by Dallas Sleep. If your insurance plan is not listed, please call us to verify whether we are in network with your insurance plan.

What nights do you perform sleep studies?

We perform sleep studies 7 nights per week, at one or both of our locations. So we can easily accommodate your schedule, we have both weeknights and weekend availability!

Do you only treat sleep apnea?

No. As a matter of fact, we treat a variety of sleep disorders, including insomnia, unrefreshing sleep, excessive daytime fatigue, excessive daytime drowsiness/sleepiness, restless legs syndrome, sleep walking, bed wetting, and frequent nighttime awakenings. Of course, we also treat snoring and sleep apnea. Plus, we also treat other rare forms of sleep disorders.

How long does it take to get results after my sleep study?

We typically have your results ready within one week. We usually ask you to schedule a follow up appointment in our clinic one week after your sleep study, to review your results with one of our expert medical providers.

Will I actually see a doctor?

Our Medical Director, Dr. Raj Kakar, reviews all of our sleep studies for quality and accuracy. When you come to our clinic for your appointments, you will be seen by Dr. Kakar or one of our highly skilled, professional Physician Assistants. Our Physician Assistants each have several years of experience in health care, and they have each spent a considerable amount of time training on Sleep Health and Wellness under the mentorship of Dr. Kakar. You will be impressed by how our team is dedicated to helping you.

Does your office offer CPAP supplies?

Yes, we do. We have the latest and most up-to-date selection of PAP equipment and supplies available to purchase. We can also process your Durable Medical Equipment (DME) purchase through your medical insurance, depending on your specific plan. We also have a rental program for CPAP devices for those who are interested in test-driving CPAP before making a final decision on treatment.

If my sleep study shows I have sleep apnea, when will I get
my CPAP equipment?

You will typically receive your PAP equipment about 1-2 weeks after your CPAP/Bilevel PAP study.

What’s the difference between CPAP and Bilevel PAP (or BiPAP)?

CPAP is the continuous delivery of one pressure to maintain airway patency. Bilevel PAP is the continuous delivery of two, alternating pressures – a higher pressure for inhalation and a lower pressure for exhalation. Bilevel PAP is used in certain cases, such as when someone is unable to tolerate CPAP treatment or when higher pressures of CPAP are required for treatment. There are other situations when Bilevel PAP may be recommended. Bilevel PAP may be more comfortable for people who complain of difficulty exhaling when using CPAP.

So I have had a sleep study that confirmed sleep apnea, and now I am ready to start CPAP treatment.  What happens next?

We need to schedule a CPAP study to determine what mask and air pressures are right for you.  Once we have reviewed the study and if your results with CPAP treatment were good, then we will send the prescription for your CPAP equipment to a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company.

What is a CPAP study?

A CPAP study is an overnight study performed in our sleep lab to determine the best mask style and size and the best air pressures to successfully treat your sleep apnea.

After my CPAP study, do I come in again to go over my results?

Generally, we will not have you come in for a follow-up visit to review your CPAP study results, since this is a treatment study.  Typically, one of our staff members will call you and provide a brief summary of your response to treatment.  We will also give you further details about obtaining your CPAP equipment at that time.  If you still prefer to review your treatment study results with one of our providers, you are welcome to schedule an office visit at any time. 

When will I receive my CPAP?

Generally, you should expect to receive your CPAP equipment about 1-2 weeks after your CPAP study.  If you do not receive your equipment after 2 weeks of your study, please notify our office.

When will my next appointment be?

You will follow up in our clinic about 4-6 weeks after your CPAP study.  This allows us to see how you are doing after one month on CPAP treatment.  Please be sure to bring your CPAP device and mask with you for this follow up appointment, as we may need to make adjustments to the pressure settings and/or your mask fit.  In addition, we will be assessing your CPAP smartcard data to ensure your sleep apnea is being optimally treated, and we will review these results with you.

What do I do if I’m having trouble tolerating my mask or the air pressures?

Our goal is to get you comfortable with CPAP treatment, so your sleep apnea is successfully treated and you get the best results with treatment.  If you are having difficulty with mask fit or the air pressures, we encourage you to come into our office to visit with our expert sleep technicians and mask fit experts.  We recommend you call before stopping by, to make sure a technician is available.  Please be sure to bring your CPAP device and mask with you when visiting our expert sleep technicians.
